Championship Round Recap

At this point…you might as well start fading my picks and reading this for your intermittent bathroom reading material, because my game picks stink. That being said, we were 3-1 in prop bets and you should’ve HAMMERED Aaron Rodgers over 279 passing yards. I really do appreciate you all reading these, even if you are fading my picks like a bonehead. Let’s look back at the action from this weekend.

I did it again…I doubted Tom Brady. Of course he was going to win a game when almost everyone, myself included, were all over the Packers. The “man in the suit” pick was clearly Tom Brady, but I was so fixated on Rodgers’s miraculous season to cover myself with the most obvious pick. Don’t bet against Brady, especially in the playoffs and ESPECIALLY when he is an underdog. Aaron Rodgers is doing his “feel sorry for me, I don’t know what the future holds” song and dance, but he should be pissed at his sorry excuse of a head coach. Do you really think the greatest of all time is going to give you the ball back when all he needs is a first down to put you to bed?!?! Matt Lefleur was a stooge in April for trading up to take Jordan Love and was a stooge last night for thinking Tom Brady wouldn’t make him look dumb. You might’ve single handedly made Aaron Rodgers fall out of love with playing football and, if he does retire, hopefully he joins Pat McAfee full time on the Pat McAfee show because Aaron Rodgers Tuesdays are electric.

The magical season is over for Buffalo, but it felt like from the beginning of the game the Bills needed to score on every possession to win this game. Even after they went up 9-0 in the first quarter, it felt like the Chiefs were about to go off. Spineless Leslie Frazier played not to lose last night and Patrick Mahomes picked the defense apart and let his playmakers break a ridiculous number of tackles while racking up 5 plays over 25 yards. I rescind my statement from last week, giving Sean McDermott the coach of the year because that defensive game plan was Charmin Ultra Soft. I do think there were some positives from this game on the Buffalo side. Clearly, the defensive line needs revamped. Teams can run at will on this team and there is no way they are generating a pass rush when they only send four. The back end of the defense looks good, but needs some depth to play with a team like the chiefs. On offense, they feel like they are one playmaker away from really breaking open. They have their #1 receiver in Stefon Diggs, an efficient tight end with Dawson Knox and Cole Beasley demonstrated his effectiveness in the slot this year. I think John Brown is expendable and they can find a better deep threat who will consistently play for them either through the draft or free agency. Buffalo will be back.
