Mid-Week Observations

I take no accountability for Michigan getting their asses handed to them by Illinois, I knew this was coming as soon as we beat the piss out of Iowa. They needed to be brought back to reality, but we’re still winning it all. No questions about my Tuesday bets will be answered at this time, we are looking forward because that’s all we can control. No picks in this blog, but for daily picks follow @morning_flush on twitter. Let’s get into it.

College Basketball

Big 12

Let’s start with my favorite conference to watch and if you don’t think it’s the best conference in basketball this year, you got a big dump in your pants. Oklahoma State would be the hottest team in basketball if it weren’t for Kansas, who bravely decided to schedule UTEP before their conference tournament. Any of the 7 tournament-worthy teams can win it all and it will by far be the funnest tournament to watch.

Big 10

The most top-heavy conference in the nation continues to be must watch basketball with a blue-blood program such as Michigan State fighting for a bubble spot and more top-10 matchups before the conference tourney. Michigan is winning it all, no more questions at this time.

Big East

I can not figure out Xavier to save my ass. They get their shit pushed in by Providence on the road, turn around and play inspired, great basketball against Creighton, only to fall on their face again against Georgetown. Maybe the travel has Xavier scared of catching Covid and facing another 3 week layoff, but their home/away splits are stupid in a year when it shouldn’t matter. They might need to win the tournament for the Big East to have 4 representatives.

SEC

This conference stinks and I can’t believe I’m wasting space with these losers. I really hope the committee takes a long look at this pathetic waste of talent and forces these schools to either fire their coaches or only let 2 schools into the big dance.

Pac-12

Same as SEC, but I actually won’t waste your time.

A-10

Take some time out of your workday to appreciate this Mid-Major conference today and tomorrow while their conference tournament is going on. Richmond got upset today, but between Dayton, Davidson, VCU, St. Louis and St. Bonaventure there are some fun teams to watch in this conference.

Mountain West

Wyoming will probably get their shit pushed in tonight against on the bubble Utah State, but I’m just going to appreciate the final stretch of this team’s season. I really believe this was a step in the right direction for the program and we will see continued success moving forward. After losing to Fresno State, Boise State might need to win the conference tournament to get to the big dance.

AAC

Although Houston is a top 10 team with a freak athlete in Quentin Grimes, Wichita State is the #1 seed in this conference heading into their conference tournament. I really hope SMU and Memphis make deep runs in this tournament to make the committee think before putting in any SEC or PAC-12 schools in before them.

Horizon

They were the first conference to start their tournament, so I have to talk about them. Favorite Wright State was knocked out by Milwaukee, which means there is a 50/50 chance the winner of the conference tournament will have a sub .500 record. I personally hope Oakland, who took the best team in the country (Michigan) to overtime, wins it all at 11-17.

Miscellaneous observations: Knicks fans went crazy for being over .500, as a(n) (ex) Rockies fan, I understand the frustration. The rest of the NBA is still playing basketball (kinda) and the NHL is playing hockey. Baseball too. Love you guys.
