Conference Tournament Week

I really need to take Sundays off and focus on my inner peace and thank the good lord for my ability to pick games on Fridays/Saturdays. After going 6-2 Friday/Saturday, we turned around and went 1-4 on Sunday. Michigan played some uninspired basketball and several number 1 seeds went down in mid-major conference tournament play.

College Basketball

Michigan lost, whatever, B1G champs, we’re onto bigger and better things. Eli Brooks in a walking boot and the dysfunctional offense without him is the bigger worry moving forward.

Providence got another Q1 win on its resume which, in my personal record book, gets them in over half of the PAC-12/SEC tournament-worthy teams. Staying in the Big East, Marquette might be the best bad team I’ve ever seen, but it’s more likely Xavier is the worst good team. I hate them.

We have some mid-major finals today and tomorrow, so let’s break down some conferences you’ve never heard of and maybe come up with a mid-major champion parlay:

3/8: Sun Belt Final App St@Georgia State

I love App State’s football program and I love them tonight against Georgia State. They swept the Panthers in the regular season matchups and are 7 point dawgs tonight. Even if they don’t win, I’m hammering the Mountaineers tonight.

SoCon Final Mercer@UNC Greensboro

I’m a big SoCo and Eggnog fan, nothing is better than a cold glass of booze and eggnog while watching Jim Carey’s electric performance in How the Grinch Stole Christmas. I don’t know who to take in this game. I’m a what have you done for me lately guy and remember when Mercer upset Duke? That’s probably the last memorable thing either of these teams have done, so I’ll take the Bears +5.

3/9 CAA Final

I feel like I’ve seen Northeastern and Drexel fairly recently in the tournament, so I’ll go out on a limb with this tournament. Elon Musk has taken all of us to the moon both literally and figuratively, so I’ll take 9-8 Elon to win tonight against Hofstra and the whole damn thing tomorrow.

Progressive Insurance Horizon League Championship Final

Why the hell this league gets a sponsor is beyond me. The favorite is Cleveland State, but that’s a boring ass pick. We’ll go with 11-17 Oakland (went to OT with Michigan in December) to upset everyone and sneak into the tournament under .500.

Summit League Championship Final

Hammer the SDSU Jackrabbits tonight vs Oral (lol) Roberts and again tomorrow against one of their rivals NDSU or South Dakota.

West Coast Conference

The Zags. Nothing more needs to be said for this sorry excuse of a conference, join the Mountain West, cowards.

Nothing much to recap from the rest of the weekend, Liverpool stinks and Bryson DeChambeau is a narcissistic loser, so we’ll continue to look forward to Selection Sunday and the tournament. Love you, bye.
