Feel Good Friday

I’ll take a 4-3 day, but how could anyone let me follow through with the OU@Kansas over after I said all signs point toward this being a stalemate. My dumb brain can’t help but see two Big12 schools and hammer the over. There were some great games yesterday, but I got a bone to pick with that bozo Joe Lunardi and him keeping these debatable bubble teams on the bubble. Also some great matchups today as we move one day closer to Selection Sunday. Let’s get into it.

College Basketball:

Okay, I get moving Boise State out of the “Last Four In” for their meltdown against Nevada, but to put them in the third “First Four Out” category is absurd. The SEC is a joke this year, so putting Ole miss above them is a travesty, but putting ST. LOUIS ABOVE THEM?!?! All credibility should be revoked from this stooge for that. Boise State had a more difficult non-conference schedule with Houston and BYU and beat the latter. They were competitive in their last game against Nevada, St. Louis got their shit pushed in by St. Bonaventure. You have to think if Utah State beats CSU, they would replace CSU with BSU, but Joe Lunardi has my brain in a pretzel. A couple weeks ago I talked about how important it would be for the Broncos to steal one against SDSU at the end of the season, and it ended up ruining their season because they had to play Nevada, their kryptonite team.

I can’t believe I just spent so long defending Boise State…gross. To end the rant I’d also like to say Memphis 100% deserves to be in the “First Four Out” and should be a lock for the tournament if they upset Houston. Also, take UCLA out of every single tournament consideration for losing to the joke of a program Oregon State. Let’s get into some matchups:

No. 9 OSU(-1) vs No. 20 Purdue (139)

Ohio State really backed their way into the B1G tournament losing 4 in a row and looked unimpressive in their 4 point win over Minnesota. They stink, but I’m not convinced Purdue is the better team. I’m leaning toward over 139.

No. 12 Oklahoma State vs No. 2 Baylor(-9) (147.5)

I see two Big12 teams and I want to hammer the over again. Fuck it, over 147.5.

Mizzou vs No. 8 Arkansas (-5.5)

I love Arkansas, I’m not sold on Mizzou. I think Arkansas is the most complete team in the SEC and are destined for the conference championship. Hammer the hogs -5.5.

UNC vs No. 15 FSU(-2.5)

Since losing to Marquette, UNC has looked like a complete team that could make a sweet 16 run. They’ve won 4 of their last 5 including an 8 point bounce back game vs FSU 3 day after losing to Marquette. I’ve said it before, Marquette is one of the best bad teams in the nation, so throw out that loss. I really don’t know who to take in this game, but I’m leaning toward under 151.

UConn vs No. 17 Creighton (-1)

I love UConn and I’m going to love them in the tournament too. I think they can win the Big East this year and make a deep run. Hammer the Huskies.

No. 13 Texas(-1) vs No. 11 Kansas

As much as I love to hate on them, Kansas is one of the hottest teams in the country, winning 8 of their last 9 games. They had a scare against UTEP, but rallied and beat a good OU team yesterday. This is going to be an incredible matchup, but I like Texas to advance to the Final against Baylor.

No. 23 Colorado(-1.5) vs No. 24 USC

The winner of this game will go on to lose to Oregon in the final, take it to the bank. I’m still not sold on USC and their double OT win vs Utah didn’t help. I like Colorado -1.5.

CSUvsUtah State(-4.5)

This game is going to be electric. The winner goes to the NCAA tournament and has a shot at a MWC championship and the loser’s bubble is burst. I don’t trust CSU, I think USU has a bit of a team of destiny feel to them, so I’ll take the Aggies.

We’ll have a special blog tomorrow for Semifinal/Final matchups, this is going to be a fun March. Love you, bye.
