Yesterday we took a look at the Wednesday and Thursday of the NIT: today we’ll look at four games we won’t watch because we’ll be too busy with the NCAA tournament, but matchups between teams who can win it all. Let’s do this.
NIT
Friday Buffalo vs CSU(-1.5) (154)
CSU desperately needed one more win to bolster their tournament resume, but a late loss to Nevada at the end of the season and Utah State sealed their fate. They’re good enough to win this tournament, but I’ll never allow myself to pick these scumbags to win a postseason tourney. Who knows where their motivation level will be, but I’ll take CSU to win big in this game. They’ll play Davidson in the next round.
Louisiana Tech vs Ole Miss(-6.5) (131)
Ole Miss did not deserve to be anywhere near the tournament, but I like them as a one seed. They get a tough draw against a Louisiana Tech team who had a great season, but were bounced by North Texas in the C-USA Semifinal. This game feels a bit like a snoozefest, so maybe I’ll take the under as well, but I like LT to cover +6.5. Ole Miss wins outright, they’ll play St. Mary’s.
Saturday Dayton vs Memphis(-4.5) (137.5)
Y’all know by this point how much I love Memphis, and I like them here -4.5 gambling-wise as well. The next round matchup with Boise State will be an unbelievable matchup between two teams talented enough to make the tournament. Hopefully that matchup won’t be on at the same time as the NCAA tourney because that is a must-see game.
Mississippi State vs St. Louis(-4.5) (136)
The SEC is a bunch of frauds, the A-10 was competitive, take St. Louis -4.5. They’ll take on Toledo in the next round in the only matchup I didn’t take chalk.
Who really cares about these matchups? I’m still tinkering with my bracket, but tomorrow we’ll break down some intriguing matchups and go over what part of my bracket will be busted first. Love you, bye.
