Cardiac Cowboys

I’ve never wrote a blog just gassing up my teams, but this Wyoming Basketball team is BUILT DIFFERENT. Although I’d love to see a couple double digit wins to give my heart rate a rest, these Cowboys have been tested in 5 straight games and have clawed their way to a 5 game win streak.

Of course, we can thank the heavens we have studs like Maldo and Ike to lean on, but some unsung heroes such as Drake Jeffries have been chipping in as well. Forget the fact he’s leading the nation in 3 point% while shooting at a 46.4% clip, he’s been contributing on both ends of the floor. Last night, Ike was incredible, cruising to a 28 point, 12 rebound double-double, but Jeffries quietly had himself a 12 point, 13 rebound double-double himself. I’ve caught myself saying, “great board Drake” numerous times throughout this win streak, and its his relentlessness on the glass that reflects the attitude of this team.

You combine those three with contributions from Brendan Wenzel and Jeremiah Oden, and a talented kid like Xavier DuSell coming off the bench…this team is special. I’m not going to jinx this shit and go into how special…but let’s enjoy it while we got it.
