I’ve been quietly celebrating the Pokes and Michigan both getting into the tournament, but you better believe if either were snubbed you would’ve got a caffeine fueled, babbling bullshit blog about how braindead the committee is. Everyone saying A&M got screwed can eat shit, I’m not even going to sprinkle them to win the OG national championship, the NIT (people forget it was the original tournament). It’s hard to bet on the NIT because who knows which teams are actually up for it. Find a team that wasn’t close to the bubble, but still legitimate enough to win the damn thing. Like the Pricks from Provo. They basically live for the NIT, so maybe sprinkle a +2200 on BYU and get a little misery insurance if they do stumble into a win. Enough about those losers, let’s fill out our brackets. I’ll work top to bottom from the Tournament challenge app to make it easier on ya’ll.
Round of 64
1 Gonzaga vs 16 Georgia State
That was easy. 1 for 1. Draft Kings has a +100 boosted odds for the Zags to win this game, max $50 bet. You’re welcome.
8 Boise State vs 9 Memphis
Loyal to the MW, but defense will help the Broncos take care of Memphis in the first round.
5 UConn vs 12 New Mexico State
UConn has been a bit inconsistent in a stacked Big East conference, but I like them to squeak by New Mexico State here. This is going to be a great matchup between two really good defenses and methodical offenses. I see either team losing in the next round, so maybe I’ll go with an upset with NMSU in my bracket, but either way I’m hammering the under if its anywhere in the 130s.
4 Arkansas vs 13 Vermont
Vermont is a really good team, and properly seeded, but they got a shitty draw here with our final four future bet Arkansas. The Catamounts splashed 19 3s in a game against Stony Brook earlier this year, but the defense of Arkansas will be too much.
6 Alabama vs 11 Notre Dame (as predicted by Morning Flush)
Whether it’s Rutgers or Notre Dame in this spot, I like Alabama to cruise to the second round…errr round of 32 after this game.
3 Texas Tech vs 14 Montana State
We’re looking awfully chalky in this part of the bracket, but this could be a potential slip up by one of the top seeds. The Big Sky was no joke this season, and Montana State was able to win both the regular season and the tournament. Tech will have their hands full against a Bobcat team that averages over 76 points per game, but I like their defense to shut them down.
7 Michigan State vs 10 Davidson
Finally, our first “upset” in the tournament. The Spartans have been wildly inconsistent all year long and were last in the B1G in terms of turnovers per game. They’ve often times needed to shoot their way back into a game, which they’re more than capable of doing with their high 3 point %, but their inability to get to the free throw line concerns me. I like Davidson in a close, high scoring affair.
2 Duke vs 15 Cal State Fullerton
Coach K is pissed this game isn’t in Chicago, but they got an over seeded Cal State Fullerton. This should be Bryant or Wright State.
Round of 32
1 Gonzaga vs 8 Boise State
Look at that, 2 for 2 on the Zags.
5 UConn vs 4 Arkansas
If UConn can get past NMSU, this will be an interesting matchup against Arkansas where these teams can do the Spider-Man meme pointing at each other. JD Notae and RJ Cole are essentially the same player, Jaylin Williams and Adama Songo are the same weight and just an inch differentiates the two.
6 Alabama vs 3 Texas Tech
Similar to Michigan State, Alabama has been ignorant with the basketball at times this year with almost 15 per game. That Texas Tech defense is going to eat them alive. I’ll take the Red Raiders in a rout.
10 Davidson vs 2 Duke
Gifts keep coming for Coach K. Ironically the university gave him a bench where he can eat shit from future Blue Devils, now he gets to shit on inferior opponents.
Sweet Sixteen
1 Gonzaga vs 4 Arkansas
The Hawgs got a tough draw to get to the final four and make us some money, but I gotta put my money where my mouth is.
3 Texas Tech vs 2 Duke
As much strenth as the Red Raiders have on defense, they lack in lenth. Mark Williams will be an absolute nightmare for them.
Elite Eight
4 Arkansas vs 2 Duke
Cash that ticket. The Hawgs are still dancin’.
We’ll continue down the app and head East for our next matchups. We’re winning all the bracket challenges.
