Washington is pretty similar to Hawai’i after getting rid of a toxic coach (good riddance Jimmy Lake, a fucking bozo who called out Mike Leach as an ASSISTANT defensive coordinator after winning the Apple Cup) and a schedule that could allow them to have early success. It’s difficult to read the Pac-12 this year, though. We’ve heard of several struggling programs on the rise (Stanford and Arizona’s 2022 recruiting classes are ranked in the top 25) and the addition of Lincoln Riley at USC should raise the bar for the rest of the conference. I like Kalen DeBoer, he had success at Fresno State last year, but he only had one full season and a covid shortened season at the helm with mostly Jeff Tedford’s guys. It’s hard to believe it’s only been 6 years since Washington made the College Football Playoff after several sub-par seasons, and I don’t see it getting any better anytime soon after their 90th ranked 2022 recruiting class. Hopefully DeBoer can work some magic with Lake/Peterson recruits in his first year to bring some relevancy back to the OTHER u-dub football team.
