I’m genuinely curious how Stanford fans view David Shaw after 3 sub-par seasons in a division that has been a dumpster fire as of lately; if not, he’s on my personal hot seat. I still love him, but his message feels like it’s run its course and it’s time for a fresh start for both parties. Tanner McKee is the real deal and could save Shaw’s career/put Stanford in Pac-12 contention with help from a ton of super-seniors on defense.

50/50 games

After a cupcake warmup game, we should get a good read on this Stanford team right off the bat with games against USC, Oregon and Notre Dame to begin the season. I have them losing all these games, but if they can win one of the conference games between USC and Oregon, there’s a path to them getting 6 Pac12 wins and winning the North. Oregon State at home is a winnable game and might dictate if the Beavers have anything to play for the rest of the season (as broken down here) and UCLA will have to score a million points to win this year. If our predictions are true, the game against BYU might be the swan song for David Shaw.
