There is something about flipping the calendar to March that just gets me wet in my nethers. Maybe it’s from living in a state where there’s 9 months of winter, 2 months of summer and 1 month of road construction, but I love March. From Spring Break to blackout St. Patty’s day celebrations, it’s one of my favorite months of the year. Oh yeah, there’s also a pretty important basketball tournament as well… Before we get to that, grab a shamrock shake and read up on some mid major tourneys.
Big South
UNC Asheville is getting shafted by the rest of their conference’s ineptitude. They are a solid team with a good win on the road at UCF. Unfortunately, the conference’s next best win is a 3 point loss at Notre Dame. I’d love to make jokes about Longwood (lol) going on a run to win the conference tourney again, but I’m just hoping some other scrappy sub .500 teams win their conference to bump UNC Asheville up from the 16 line.
Ohio Valley
Give me Morehead or give me death. It’s an absolute shame what happened to this conference with the conference realignment. Perennial frontrunners Murray State and Belmont are gone, leaving Morehead (lol) State scrapping for a 16 seed. Tennessee State has the best non-conference win in the Ohio Valley with a dub over Lipscomb, but it feels like Morehead (lol) State and everyone else.
These are the only two tournaments starting up today, but get ready to set some streams up at work tomorrow because games start at 12:30 Eastern time tomorrow. Love you, bye.
