The Mountain Best Conference

Some critical losses put some of the most undervalued teams back in the bubble conversation (one team specifically, who was never dropped from the Flush’s bracket). With conference tournaments coming up in the next two weeks, we’re going to see the cream pies…or however the saying goes.

Game of the night San Diego State@Boise State(-2) (121)

Charleston-1
Siena +7
Villanova +2
Miami-4
San Diego State+2
UNLV +2.5

Game of the Night

San Diego State(+2)@Boise State (121)

I looooooove the Aztecs, and their 2nd rated defense according to KenPom is finally leading to points on the other end of the floor and helped boost their resume with wins over Utah State at home and Fresno State on the road. A win at home would firmly place them in a spot in every bracketologist’s bracket (never left ours) to give the Mountain West 4 legitimate contenders with UNLV quietly putting together a resume.

Picks

Yale-3@Darmouth (133.5)

It’s Princeton, Yale and everyone else in the Ivy league. The Bulldogs had a slight slip up to the aforementioned Tigers this weekend, but I expect a big bounce-back tonight.

Arkansas@Florida (even) (135)

I looooove Arkansas and put a future on them to make the final four. Florida is coming off an emotionally exhausting win against Auburn where the Tiger’s point guard went brain dead and didn’t get a shot off at the end of the game…calm down…they’re just kids…but this line is disrespectful to the Hogs. Hammer them moneyline or take an alternate line/alternate under (+4.5/under 140) if you’re yella.

Charleston-1@Northeastern (144.5)

Northeastern has been sneaky frisky in regards to covering the spread, however, their 18 point asswhooping to Charleston stands out. I’ll lay the number in this one pretty confidently.

Siena+7@Monmouth (133.5)

I know…we were just burned bad by Marist with Siena the other night. For fucksake I have to take a visit to Poughkeepsie, NY with my first unborn child. That should tell you how confident I am in this one. I thought both these teams could potentially threaten Iona for the MAAC title…I was wrong.

Villanova+2@UConn (137)

Villanova is a fucking Wagon, so I will gladly hammer them in any game they’re a dawg until the national championship (sprinkle a final four/championship with me). Along with Collin Gillespie’s 45% FG percentage, this team has shown some great resolve with a close game at home against a Seton Hall team with their backs against the wall and on the road at Providence.

Miami-4@Pitt (136.5)

As maddeningly inconsistent as Miami has been, they’ve been good at stepping on the throats of inferior opponents. As bad as Pitt has been, they’ve won 3 of their last 4 and feel like they’re building something for the future after living in this Kevin Stallings purgatory the last 6 years. This isn’t a resume building win for Miami, but it’s a gotta have it game. I expect them to bounce back from their heartbreaking loss at home to Virginia.

UNLV+2.5@Nevada (144)

This is a rat line. UNLV has been playing great basketball the last week, and have won 5 of their last 7. They have a couple tough losses to Air Force in Colorado Springs and “home” vs Witchita State in the Roman Main Event tournament. They’ve got two resume building games left with Boise State and Wyoming, so this could be a trap game, but I’m pretty confident the Rebels will make quick work of their cross state rivals.

A so-so weekend with a day off thanks to NBAbraham Lincoln and George Washington is setting us up for a big week. Let’s get it. Love you, bye.

    1. I’m in love with the system play (if the game is on TV and I’m watching it, I’m taking the over-Big Cat) with Villanova@UConn over 137. Rhode Island@St. BOn under 134.5. SDSU and Boise totaled 79 points in their last matchup if you’re feeling frisky. My personal favorite: what better way to celebrate the OG George Dubya’s birthday than hammering the over against Richmond. God Bless the USofA.
