Weekend Wrap-up

Before I go into a rant about why mid-major basketball is more exciting than any other basketball on television, I want to make a confession…I haven’t watched as much Wright State as I should. I blindly took them to cover against Detroit Mercy knowing damn well Antoine Davis (Detroit Mercy guard) could potentially make it to the next level…all because they beat my beloved Oakland Grizzlies on the road (who have now lost 5 of their last 7). I’m admitting this because I hate people who recap games they clearly didn’t watch, so hand up, I apologize. Now, let’s overreact to the weekend of sports.

NBA

Much like the NFL’s Pro-Bowl, can we get rid of the dunk contest and change up the all star game. What if instead of an all star GAME, it was a 8 team 3-on-3 tournament? You can’t replicate the intensity of an actual game, but you can add something new and fun. Also, I did not expect Chris Paul to be in the top 30 of all time and Damian Lillard to be apart of the top 75 greatest basketball players of all time. It feels like Lebron got in someone’s ear to disrespect Russell Westbrook and put him at 68. Are you fucking kidding me? The guy with the most triple doubles EVER is 68?!?!?! They could have at least tongue-in-cheek put him at 69 for some comedic relief.

EPL

Liverpool won, they’re a wagon. Manchester City lost, they can eat my ass. That was talking soccer.

College Basketball

Juwan Howard was absolutely assaulted by the Wisconsin head coach before retaliating and striking an ASSISTANT coach in the head with an open hand thunder clap. Let’s just hope we can tread water before the B1G tourney and keep ourselves in the bubble conversation. Villanova and Arkansas are my sneaky teams to win it all (sprinkle those futures) in a year that feels like it HAS to be Gonzaga’s tournament to lose.

Nascar

The Daytona 500 happened, some rookie bozo won and fucked up my Kyle Busch sprinkle.

NHL

The 5-1 shitpumping to the Bruins brought my Avs excitement back down to earth a bit, but THIS TEAM IS STILL WINNING THE CUP, EAT SHIT IF YOU THINK OTHERWISE. The Wild are also starting to scare me. When does the actual season start though?

College basketball picks coming up, love you, bye.

  1. Love that idea about the 3 on 3 tourney for all star weekend. That would be fun as hell. Do it with the rising stars game too. With the dunk contest, I think they have just run out of ideas. They’ll all been done. What do you think about Arizona’s chances in the tourney? I’ll take your comments off the air.

    1. Thanks for the comment Philbert, I love UofA. If I’m a Wildcat fan, I’m encouraged by the resolve to beat an Oregon team that desperately needs a Q1 win to keep their tourney chances alive. They should cruise to a 1 seed and have a better draw to the final four than most (second overall seed in tourney?).
